Taxability of Trust Distributions

The presentation will cover Internal Revenue Form 1041 explaining the differences between Complex and Simple Trusts, distribution basics, types of income and DNI calculations with examples given, treatment of capital gains, form review. Information regarding Distribution Ordering Rules will also be reviewed. Finally practitioner points will be given that include tier system, 65 day rule, distributions in kind and specific bequests.

Paul Scholz is the Managing Partner of Onisko & Scholz, CPAs. He possesses a Master's Degree in taxation and servers as Partner in charge of tax planning and compliance for individuals, estates, trust and privately held companies. He supervises a staff of CPAs who specialize in income, estate and other taxes including payroll, property, and sales taxes. Paul is personally involved with estate planning and compliance for high net worth individuals and estates and regularly supervises the preparation of court accountings for fiduciaries.
