Topic:

A discussion and audience participation of the additional due diligence requirements after Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The level of analysis required to evaluate eligibility for some tax deductions after TCJA and the historical documentation now required to substantiate that analysis presents quite a burden for tax preparers. Some of the areas of concern will be:
● Meals and Entertainment change eliminating the entertainment component. How do you support your analysis?
● Mortgage Interest Limitation. What records do you keep to inform your clients as to why they may have interest limit? How do you support applicable purchase acquisition or remodel debt?
● Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBI) for rental real estate. What documentation should you have to support the eligibility for QBI
