Topic:

Topic One: Mortgage Interest calculations After TCJA with Karen Joyner, EA
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
TCJA has created complexities which require more calculations for taxpayers who claim mortgage interest, property taxes, state, local and personal property taxes. Learn the questions you need to ask your client to ensure you have the right information to do the calculations. Here are a few of the items we will cover: What does the 1098 really report? Can we deduct the amount reported on the 1098? How do the new mortgage interest rules affect Office in Home? When do the new limits apply? What happens when we have tax deduction greater than $10,000? Can we capitalize the excess?

Topic Two: R & D Credits with Jeff Halbert, EA
12:00 to 2:00 PM
R&D credits is not just limited to big science firms, small businesses can benefit as well. During our workshop will be discussing what the R&D tax credit is, how to claim the credit against income tax and employer payroll taxes using worksheets.
