Description:

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) was signed into law 12-22-17. The legislation was massive. This lecture will allocate 4 hrs to review in workshop format the IRC section 199A Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBID) which was a new and very complicated IRC provision included in TCJA. The application of this new 20% QBID is potentially very far reaching for all Form 1040 filers including those with Schedules C, E, F and pass-through entities including partnership, trust, estate and S-corporation. The IRS published final Regs late January 2019, along with new IRS Notice 2019-07 carving out a Safe Harbor application to rental real estate enterprises. Meanwhile the new draft 2019 Form 8995, and instructions, will replace for 2019 the worksheets used for 2018 to calculate the QBID. The goal of this lecture is to invite tax professionals to bring their practical 2018 tax season questions and work through real life QBID problems including use of Lacerte tax software illustrations.
