There are unique
challenges and rules in preparing a tax return for Clergy/Pastors, Teacher
s, and other specialized fields of service-related professionals. We will e
xplore the Federal regulations regarding these service-related clients, and
how to develop checklists of items needed for securing a productive tax in
terview. In addition to clergy/pastors and teachers/educators, some of the
other services-related professions we will briefly discuss include the foll
owing:

Business Loans, Grants, and Employer Tax Credits/DeferralsThis past year Co
ngress passed numerous tax provisions and programs for small businesses and
employers, in addition to issuing a truckload of guidance. The class will
briefly cover the various programs available. Then we’ll look at the nitty
gritty of recordkeeping and documentation for compliance. We’ll explore how
these various programs will be reported to IRS on this year’s tax returns<

This presentation will discuss the basics of the 1031 pr
ocess, a brief history and overview of DSTs, why taxpayers exchange into fr
actional ownership programs, who might be appropriate for DSTs, choosing a
Qualified Intermediary, understanding the identification rules, and tax con
siderations when realizing a gain on the sale of real property.Delaware Sta
tutory Trust (DST) properties are considered “like-kind” replacement proper
ty pursuant to IRC Revenue Ruling 2004-86. The DST has become the vehicle o
f choice for fractionalized 1031 exchange properties. Are Investors are abl
e to 1031 exchange into multiple DST properties in an effort to lower the p
otential risks of real estate investing? Typical minimum investments are $1
00k and asset classes range from multifamily apartments, triple net lease p
roperties (NNN), medical office properties, and all-cash/debt-free properti
es.We will go over frequently asked questions regarding DST 1031 and will r
eal-world case studies of the client making an investment in different scen

: David Eastis, CRTP
David A Eastis, CRTP, received his Bachelor of Ar
ts Degree from the University of La Verne in 1980, and Master of Arts in Th
eology Degree from Bethany Seminary in 1984, and completed his accounting d
egree in 2003 from Indiana University, South Bend, Indiana.In 2003, David m
oved back to California to work in “BREA TAX CONNECTIONS” the family tax an
d bookkeeping business, now located in Brea California. David joined the Ca
lifornia Society of Tax Consultants in 2004. David has served as Secretary
for the Greater Long Beach Chapter, a 4-year term as Secretary for the Soci
ety Board, a one-year term as 1st Vice President for Society Board, a two-y
ear term serving as President of CSTC 2015-2016, and a two-year term as Pas
t President of Society Board 2017-2018. Currently David serves as Region th
ree Director for CSTC.David has been encouraged by CSTC to share his gifts
of speaking and teaching as a presenter for various chapter meetings, the C
STC Summer Symposium, the Autumn Classic, and the Wine Country Symposium. H
is topics have included: IRS Form 990; S Corporations; Preachers, Teachers,
and other Tax Creatures (specialized vocational Fields); Charitable Contri
butions; Understanding and Reading Schedule K-1s; and Ethics. In the Fall o
f 2019, David completed his eighth year teaching the Fundamentals Tax Cours
e (Contact) for CSTC. David and his wife Ann live in La Habra, CA. He is cu
rrently a member of the Orange County Chapter of CSTC.

long time member of CSTC. In 2016 she was named member of the year of the C
entral Valley Chapter of CSTC and in 2001 she was named on of Top Ten Women
of the Year in the nation by American Business Women’s Association. She fr
