Description:

Circular 230 section 10.36 covers Confidential Client Information which in conjunction with Treas. Reg. 301.7216-1 outlines the rules issued by IRS regarding professional standards for tax professionals to safeguard all client digital data. This class will be a practitioner’s workshop to develop a Written Information Security Plan (WISP) for your tax office given the ubiquitous nature of technology required to operate the modern tax office. During the class we will review parts of IRS Pubs 1345, 4557, 4707 and 5293 on the subject, trying to make this subject practical for all tax professionals using a panel of presenters and engaging the audience. Given the endless warnings of tax scams and data breaches (most recently at the IRS), we must remain vigilant and protect our offices from data hacks with WISP and other prudent actions to combat the cyber risk threat.

Speaker:

Miles Lawrence, EA, Esq. and panel of EA’s (Jennifer Stepp, Sue Reed and Minji Jo)
