2018 Annual Business Meeting

The North County San Diego Chapter is proud to host the 2018 CSTC Annual Meeting along with the Chapter’s Holiday Party.

The Holiday Party is where members celebrate their accomplishments as tax professionals, thank our Society and Chapter leadership for their exemplary efforts in making our Society great, swear in the 2019 leadership and finally, enjoy some festive entertainment.

Call for Presenters for the 2019 Summer Symposium in Las Vegas!
(Deadline: December 14, 2018)

The California Society of Tax Consultants (CSTC) provides quality tax education for tax professionals, including CTEC-registered preparers, Enrolled Agents, CPAs and attorneys.  CSTC’s premier education event is the Summer Tax Symposium. The 2019 Symposium is being held June 9-12, 2019 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

We are looking for speakers to share their tax knowledge and expertise with their peers and colleagues. The sessions are one-, two- or four-hour classes that provide attendees with information about the topic as well as practical applications they can apply in their practice.

We are accepting submissions in all areas of taxation including:

  • Individual tax
  • Businesses
  • Nonprofits
  • Trusts and estates
  • California tax
  • Representation
  • Other topics related to taxation

Please fill out the Call for Presenters Form in its entirety and submit it by email no later than December 14, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Only complete submissions will be considered.

Presenters are selected by the Education Committee based on recommendations and fit with the overall goal of the Symposium. All submitters will be notified by January 8, 2018.

If you wish to become a tax preparer in the state of California, you need to visit the California Tax Education Council (CTEC) website as you will need to register to become a California Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP)

How to Become a CRTP and Who Must Register?


All CTEC Registered Tax Preparers (CRTPs) must…

  • First complete 60-hours (45 hours federal and 15 hours state) of qualifying tax education from a CTEC Approved Provider
  • Obtain a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) from the IRS
  • Purchase a $5,000 tax preparer bond
  • Register with CTEC within 18 months from the completion date on the certificate of completion

Vote for the 2019 CSTC Board of Directors
(Deadline: December 8, 2018)  
   

 

Please follow the link below for your official ballot for CSTC’s annual elections. In addition to voting for officers, there are also a number of changes being proposed to the Bylaws. 

Ballot Instructions

  1. Vote for each office by marking the box before the name of the candidate of your choice. For clarity, it is recommended that you mark the box with an ‘X’. 
  2. You may vote for only one candidate for each office, and for up to two Regional Directors in your Region
  3. If you do not want to vote for a particular office, leave all the boxes under that office blank.
  4. There are only two ways to vote: online or by mail

A.  ONLINE. Click here to access the online Ballot. You may vote entirely online by signing in to your membership profile and voting (sign in required). Must be received by the CSTC office by December 8, 2018 at 5:00 PM.

B.  BY MAIL. You can access the paper ballot by logging in to the CSTC Member Center. After you have filled out your ballot, mail it to the CSTC Office, 320 Pine Ave, Suite #1050, Long Beach CA, 90802. Must be received by the CSTC office by December 8, 2018 at 5:00 PM.

New to the CSTC Ballot: Regional Directors

You will vote for up to two Regional Directors in your Region. Below are the chapters in each region:

Region 1: Sacramento Chapter, Central Valley Chapter, San Jose Chapter, and San Francisco Bay Chapter
Region 2: San Gabriel Valley Chapter, Los Angeles Chapter, Greater Long Beach Chapter, and Inland Empire Chapter
Region 3: Orange County Chapter, South Orange County Chapter, Wine Country Chapter, and Temecula Valley Chapter 
Region 4: East County San Diego Chapter, San Diego Chapter, and North County San Diego Chapter

Your ballot must be received by the CSTC Office not later than December 8, 2018 at 5:00 PM regardless of the manner of voting.

ONLY ACTIVE CSTC members in good standing at the time of the elections may hold office or vote.


CSTC Member of the Year
(Deadline: December 7, 2018)

The Member of the Year Award is CSTC’s highest honor, and acknowledges an outstanding individual for their extraordinary efforts in helping their fellow tax professionals by supporting CSTC. Individuals are nominated by other CSTC members, and a panel of judges then selects the final recipient. The Member of the Year Award is presented at the CSTC Annual Meeting, and the recipient receives an Award and their name will be added to a permanent plaque at the Society offices. The Award will be presented at the CSTC Annual Meeting on December 13, 2018 at the North San Diego County Chapter Holiday Party.

Each chapter is encouraged to nominate at least one, but no more than two members from their chapter each year. Nominations may also be made by any member-at-large.
